





LiveX is a digital experience platform to help event organizers host a variety of event types to reach out to audiences across the globe. LiveX came about because Nextech AR acquired a virtual event platform, its original interface was dated and the existing experience couldn’t handle the new use cases and scale across widely different industry verticals. In 2021, we set out to redesign the product to make it a delightful, modern product and build it into a customizable live event platform.

Since the pandemic hit at the beginning of 2020, people were prohibited from leaving their homes, and a less population willing to be in the physical presence of others. Virtual events became a saving grace, there had been extensive expansion and growth within the world of virtual events. The ultimate objective of the project was to create an all-in-one digital experience platform that was fun, inspiring, accessible, easy to use, and visually appealing. My very first step was to understand the existing platform structure, including the attendee-facing interface and the event admin portal where the organizers enter all the information and manage their pages/sections.
The initial research focused on better understanding the business goals and user's needs related to experiencing virtual events as well as empathizing with our target users. Due to the limited time and resources, I explored the topics together with our business team and had the in-depth interviews with stakeholders to gather as much information as possible. This led me to empathize with our target users as much as possible, and helped me to identify pain points, frustrations, needs, and desires with existing products to determine how LiveX could improve this experience.
Before getting into design, I was also curious to know - "How did others do it?" I went on my voyage of looking into a few popular event platforms, such as EventMobi, Hopin, Aventri, ON24, etc. I conducted my research on how our competitors organize their valuable content & information, what level of customization they provide to the organizers, and what features they have to leverage engagement and networking. This helped me to understand our competitor's strength in solving the common problems, and helped me to identify what could be our potential growth opportunities.

How might we create a customized digital experience platform that provides the immersive experience, while making it easy to use, delightful, and visually appealing?
Two personas of our target demographics were built based on the information gathered to help drive decision making and keep the product focused on solving users pain points, frustrations, and goals. One is the attendees, who will be attending and experiencing the event. And the second one is for the event organizers, who will host their event with LiveX.
